Alternative Dispute Resolution

Court cases are long, drawn-out, and expensive. Today, many courts direct parties to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), commonly known as "mediation," prior to their court date in an effort to resolve the issue more efficiently and less expensively.

What is Mediation

Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediation is an alternative form of dispute resolution used by many to reduce costs and condense the time needed to resolve a dispute or pending lawsuit.

Why Mediation

It can take 12-18 months for a civil lawsuit to go to trial in Tennessee. Small business owners typically don't have the time or resources to be involved in a legal proceeding that long. Mediation can reduce that time to weeks. If both parties are willing to work toward a resolution, the actual proceeding can be resolved in a day.

Meditation is focused on finding a resolution, not prolonging a proceeding.
